DRACULA THE PANTO

Bram Stoker’s Dracula, performed by two actors with far too many characters to play and nowhere near enough time to change costume.

Count Dracula has plans. Unfortunately, so does everybody else.

What follows is a two-handed version of Dracula in which the familiar story is put through the machinery of British pantomime: heroes, villains, a Dame, audience participation, songs and an escalating number of costume changes.

The cast of two take on Dracula, his pursuers and everybody they meet along the way, switching characters at speed while the story becomes increasingly difficult to keep under control.

The soundtrack includes Bat Out of Hell, Bad Moon Rising and In the Midnight Hour.

“Fast, furious, funny. Dracula makes perfect panto fare.” — Big Issue

“Fun, fangs and other fab treats – a delight.” — Metro

It is suitable for families, but this is not a children’s show with a few jokes added for the adults. The joke is the production itself: two performers attempting to get through Dracula while pantomime keeps getting in the way.

A suitably strange way to spend an evening in Halloween week.
