EASTBOURNE RUMBLE: 50s DJ SPECIAL
Eastbourne Rumble returns to The Grove for its fifth outing — and its final gathering of 2026 — with another five hours devoted to the records that helped invent the modern dancefloor.
Dave Mumbles takes charge of the DJ Special, digging into the great post-war collision of rock ’n’ roll, rhythm & blues, rockabilly, doo-wop, jive, blues and 1950s R&B. This is music from an age when a seven-inch single could arrive looking modest enough and proceed to change everything.
Joining Dave are Cat Talk Lee, Shaun Ludkin, Simon Moon and Tiki Stew, each bringing their own selections to a night built around original sounds, good records and the simple pleasure of hearing them played loud enough to dance to.
The Grove’s sprung wooden floor will once again be put to its proper use. No elaborate theme is required: just a room, a stack of records and five hours of music that still refuses to sit quietly in the past.
